“Broccoli Crust Pizza: Spinato’s Innovative Take on Healthy Pizza Options”

For many years, advancements in pizza crusts have focused primarily on flavor and texture. As awareness of Celiac disease increased, bakers began developing gluten-free options. Soon after, clever parents and followers of the paleo diet introduced pizza crusts made from cauliflower. According to California Pizza Kitchen, a national chain, over 10% of its orders are now for cauliflower pizza. However, Spinato’s new frozen pizza takes crust innovation even further with the introduction of broccoli crust. While broccoli has been featured in various recipes online, it has only recently appeared in a limited number of product lines.

“Our new line of broccoli crust pizzas will provide a unique taste experience that caters to today’s busy consumers,” said company president Anthony Spinato in a press release. The broccoli crust pizzas appear to be exclusive to Spinato’s frozen grocery line and are not available at their Arizona restaurants. This concept is intriguing but raises several questions. For instance, does the crust have a noticeably greener appearance? Does the distinct flavor of broccoli affect the overall enjoyment of the pizza? Is there a consumer demand for broccoli crust?

These questions and more will likely be addressed as Spinato’s new pizza becomes available in stores, which the press release states will happen “soon.” Notably, this new offering boasts 667 mg of calcium citrate, making it a potentially nutritious option. Spinato’s pizza can be found in the frozen section of approximately 750 grocery stores nationwide.
