CSIR-CFTRI Demonstrates food safety, labelling and Current Regulations

This was part of the World Food Safety Day celebrations held on June 7. The eventdifference between zinc bisglycinate and picolinate was under the aegis of AFST(I).On the occasion, studentis zinc bisglycinate chelate goods &038; teachers from various schools and colleges of Mysuru were invited to make them aware on the significance of food labelling and food adulteration. The zinc supplement 50programme started with an introduction to World Food Safety Day by Dr R P Singh, chairman, Students’ Committee, AFST(I). Aruna Kumar, Senior Technical Officer, Department of Food Analytical and Quality Control Laboratory, CFTRI, rendered a lecture-cum demonstration on food safety, food labelling and current regulations for manufactu
rers. The keynote address was delivered by Dr Alok Kumar Srivastava, president, AFST(I).CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, demonstrated the importance of food safety, food labelling and current regulations for manufacturers. This was part of the World Food Safety Day celebrations held on June 7. The event was under the aegis of AFST(I).Dr Sridevi Annapurna Singh, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, addressed the students on safety aspects of food
and had an interactive session with students and responded to the queries regarding nutrition and food safety. A quiz competition was organised for the students of different categorelemental zinc supplementies. While, CSIR-CFTRI School won the first prize, Sri Sathya Sai Baba High School and Government High School, Vontikoppal secured 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively. Students of three colleges also participated in the quiz and SBRRM Mahajana 1st Grade College won the prize.
